Cloth Diapers FAQ

There are 4 different types of cloth diapers:

  • Prefolds
    • The most affordable style of cloth. Usually requires a fastener (snappi, pins) and a cover.
      • Example:
  • All in Ones (AIO, AI2)
    • Everything you need built into itself. Usually fastens with snaps or hook and loop (Velcro). The outer layer is waterproof to prevent leakage. For heavy wetter’s, you can add an extra insert (stuff inside). Takes longer to dry.
      • Example:
  • Pocket Diapers
    • Much like an AIO but can you take out the insert to wash. Usually fastens with snaps or hook and loop (Velcro). The outer layer is waterproof to prevent leakage. For heavy wetter’s, you can add an extra insert (stuff inside). Faster drying times.
      • Example:
  • Fitted Diapers
    • Is the next step up from prefolds are like the name, fitted to the baby. Usually fastens with snaps or hook and loop but sometimes brands use snappis. Fitted diapers are not waterproof and need a cover.
      • Example:
How do I wash my diapers?
    • Rinse diapers stash in cold water
    • Wash diapers in hot water and use 2-3 Tbsp* per load. For HE machines or those with soft water use 1-2 Tbsp*.

    • Line Dry covers (sunning the covers will help get out any stains) and toss inserts in the dryer.
